The Chickie’s & Pete’s story dates back to 1977 when Pete’s parents, Peter and Henrietta, purchased a small neighborhood taproom on Robbins Avenue, in Mayfair. Young Pete started experimenting with seafood recipes and one result was his “crab fries” which became the first of several patented dishes. The restaurant was a roaring success for many years and, in 1998, Chickie’s & Pete’s opened at Veterans’ Stadium. The following year, a much larger Chickie’s & Pete’s was developed on Roosevelt Boulevard in the Far Northeast.

The largest location of this growing chain is located in a 24,000-square-foot former Super Fresh building on Packer Avenue. Ciarrocchi purchased the real estate and converted the space to a 750-seat restaurant with a 70-foot bar, 12-foot TV screen and over 100 employees. This South Philadelphia location is a stone’s throw to the stadium complexes and was recently voted #1 sports bar on the East Coast by ESPN.

Pete’s first ventures into New Jersey are located in Bordentown (located near Trenton) and Egg Harbor Township (located near Atlantic City). Bordentown has quickly become a favorite local watering hole. Egg Harbor Township, the Jersey Shore’s newest sports bar, is a local favorite and summertime shore destination.

Pete is also located at the Philadelphia International Airport.  Now travelers can experience the unique flavors of Chickie’s & Pete’s in Terminals E, C, and A-West.

Chickie’s & Pete’s has most recently unveiled PLAY2, the world’s first interactive sports bar.  A separate extension was first opened off of our Packer Avenue location, closely followed by a completely integrated facility at Parx Casino in Bensalem.
